Privacy

Last updated 5 November 2026

This notice explains what personal information Heartland Developments Limited collects through heartlanddevelopments.co.nz, why, who it is shared with, and how to see or correct it. We follow the Privacy Act 2020.

What we collect

When you send an enquiry or request a brochure, information pack or viewing, we collect the details you give us: your name, email address, phone number and anything you write in the message, along with which property and page you enquired from. We record which documents we send you and when you open them, so we know the links reached you.

Like most websites, we also collect information about how the site is used, such as the pages visited, the device and browser, and the advertisement or link that brought you here. This is described under “Measuring the website and our ads” below.

Why we use it

To answer your enquiry, send the documents you asked for, and let the listing agent follow up about that property. With the consent you give when you send the form, we may also contact you about future Heartland releases; every message carries an unsubscribe link and we honour it promptly. We use the website and advertising information to understand what works and to show our advertising to people likely to be interested.

Who we share it with

Enquiries about a property for sale go to the licensed real estate agent marketing it, and to Heartland. We do not sell your information. We use trusted service providers to run the site: Vercel (hosting), Upstash (our enquiry records), Resend (sending email), and the measurement tools below. Some of these providers store information outside New Zealand; we choose providers that protect it to standards comparable to New Zealand law.

Measuring the website and our ads

We use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the site. Clarity can record how pages are scrolled and clicked so we can see where the site is confusing and improve it.

We use the Meta Pixel and the Meta Conversions API to measure our Facebook and Instagram advertising. They tell Meta when someone who saw our ads visits a property page or sends an enquiry, so we can see which ads work and reach similar people. When you send an enquiry, we share your email address, phone number and first name with Meta in a scrambled (hashed) form that Meta uses only to match the enquiry to its users; Meta does not receive them in plain text. These tools use cookies and similar technology. You can control how Meta uses this information in your Facebook ad preferences, and you can block or clear cookies in your browser settings.

How long we keep it, and keeping it safe

We keep enquiry records for as long as we need them to deal with the enquiry, any sale that follows and our legal obligations, and then delete them. Access to our records is limited to the people who need it.

Seeing or correcting your information

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to stop contacting you, at any time. Email ian@hld.nz or call 021 754 000. If you are not happy with how we handle your information, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
